Brian Kasten was born in Manitowoc, WI, but moved to Benton Harbor, MI when he was two. He attended grade school at Good Shepherd Lutheran School (WELS) in Benton Harbor. He attended Michigan Lutheran High School where he participated in soccer, basketball, and baseball.
Following high school, Brian went on to Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN. He graduated in 1998. Upon his graduation, Brian was assigned to teach at St. Paul's Lutheran School in Saginaw, MI to teach 4th grade in the morning and 8th grade in the afternoon and coach boy's basketball. In 2002, Brian accepted a call to Fallbrook, CA to teach, coach and be Athletic Director. He earned his Master's of Sports Science Degree in Sports Management from the United States Sports Academy in January 2009. In the summer of 2009, Brian accepted a call to Cudahy, WI to serve as their 3rd and 4th grade teacher as well as Athletic Director.
Brian is married to Kirsten (Oakes) who graduated from Martin Luther College in 2000. Kirsten currently teaches K5 at St. John's Lutheran School in Milwaukee, WI. They have two daughters, Lilia and Kennedy who both attend St. Paul's.
